Just in time for fall

I've finally completed my Sunrise Circle jacket, and I couldn't be happier with the end result. Well I'm no model but here I am. I began knitting this back in April - 2009! It's my first 'big girl" sweater, and over one hundred dollars worth of yarn and a year and a half later you can only imagine how ecstatic I am that the whole thing not only seamed up correctly but actually fits! And I know I'll wear it all the time. It's so cozy!

This was a real confidence builder for me as a knitter and I hope in the future to have a closet full of hand-knit sweaters.

I know most of you don't read this blog to find out any sort of knitting info, but the pattern is the Sunrise Circle Jacket by Kate Gilbert and can be downloaded on Ravelry. My version is knit using Jo Sharp's Cashmere Aran Tweed in Ivy and the yarn is a dream to work with. This pattern looks complicated but I only consider myself to be an advanced beginner, so if you want to try it out, go for it!

I'll be back soon with more quilty fabric love:)

  7. Nice job Megan, I love to knit with Jo Sharpe yarn it is really nice. Don't feel bad it took me 3yrs to finish one sweater because I kept making mistakes & taking it out. So I finished it and it is in my closet...a love hate relationship, never worn it.

  8. This is a beautiful sweater, great job! I love the yarn, the shape and the toggles. Never appologize for craft variety! Quilting is great but I love all kinds of handmade projects, and this is a true stunner :-)

  15. It looks great. I wish I could knit. I was shown how as a child and have tried several times over the years but I am rubbish at it. I can't even do basic knitting without messing it up and I think if I knitted I'd want to do lovely sweaters and jackets like this.

  18. OH MY GOSH...MEGAN!! your sweater is gorgeous! What an amazing accomplishment, I can completely understand the self satisfaction you must have felt when you finished (I jumped up and down when I finished my first sock, then proceeded to show everyone possible...if only I could finish the second!) I looks gorgeous on you too, a perfect fit.
